KVM virtualization

Tilaa uses KVM for virtualization. A virtual server on KVM offers all the possibilities of a physical server with comparable performance.

 

Data centres

Tilaa uses CO₂-neutral data centres. All data centres are TIER-3 or higher and are located in and around Amsterdam. The data centres are selected based on maximum redundancy with respect to air conditioning and the power supply system, uptime, access security and accessibility for our engineers.

 

Backbone

Tilaa servers are connected to different switches using two gigabit network connections. Multiple routers and connections support the interconnectivity to the internet and between the data centres.

 

Availability guarantee

Tilaa guarantees 99.95% availability of the network. This is ensured by our redundant infrastructure.

 

IP failover between data centres

Tilaa has a flat network between its data centres, which makes it possible to use an external IP address at multiple locations. This functionality offers you the ability to create additional redundancy, such as through a database cluster with failover to another location.

 

Servers

Tilaa uses high-quality hardware from A-brands, so that we can guarantee optimum support and the immediate availability of spare parts. To ensure the continuity of your IT environment, we keep reserve servers and components in stock.

 

CPUs

All physical Tilaa servers are equipped with multiple quad-core Intel Westmere processors. Each Tilaa VPS has a right to a number of guaranteed CPU shares. You can use additional CPU capacity when it is available.

 

Memory

The memory allocated to your server is always available for your VPS, without overbooking.

 

Disk capacity

Your server data are kept on a hardware RAID 10 disk array with a large cache and battery backup. This increases the performance and safeguards data integrity. By working with local storage, Tilaa limits the impact of potential hardware failures. If you have multiple servers, the other servers remain available.

 

Redundant power supply system

If the power supply is interrupted, our platform continues to operate: all of our equipment is connected to two no-break power supply systems.

 

Environmentally aware

Sustainability is one of our guiding principles. A virtual server is much more energy efficient than a dedicated server. Tilaa also makes use of CO₂-neutral data centres.

 

Security and management

Tilaa’s systems and network are monitored 24×7 for availability, performance and security.
